Interactive demo in email marketing: why the demo goes behind a GIF or a link

Last reviewed October 24, 2026

Quick answerEmail clients do not render an embedded demo, so send a short GIF or thumbnail of it, linked to the hosted demo, and use a trackable link per recipient to see who clicked through.

Why email gets a GIF, not the demo

An interactive demo goes into email as a linked GIF or thumbnail, because email clients do not render an embedded demo. Supademo's help center agrees: email clients do not render iframes at all, so use a linked GIF or thumbnail that points to the demo. The GIF animates in the inbox, and the click opens the full interactive demo in the browser.

A GIF or thumbnail linked to the demo

  1. In Supademo, open the demo's Share options and select Download as GIF.
  2. Set the autoplay speed, resolution and frame rate.
  3. Put the GIF in the email body as the clickable thumbnail.
  4. Hyperlink the GIF to the demo's share link.

The file downloads locally, and a link is also emailed to you. Video and GIF exports stop at 70 steps, so split a longer demo and export the parts separately. For a cold email, Supademo advises one guided screenshot demo of the single best workflow, under 10 steps. Supademo says most sequence tools merge links like first-name fields, so a template or campaign can carry a personalized link for each recipient.

Trackable links and personalized demos in email

A trackable share link is a unique link per viewer, made from one demo, with notifications as they engage. Supademo documents notifications by email or Slack and UTM parameters per campaign. A link can identify the recipient from an email address added as a URL parameter, with no form. Dynamic variables, which put a recipient's name or company into the demo, are filled from the link or a form.

Supademo's Free card lists AI text personalization, while its comparison table puts dynamic variables and AI text generation on Scale and up, so plan on Scale if a campaign needs personalization.

To gate or not to gate a demo in a campaign

Supademo's advice is never to gate an outbound demo and not to gate a leave-behind either. A form suits a landing page better: the vendor suggests one three to five steps in when you want warmer leads. The same advice holds for a link in an email signature, since it is the same hyperlink.

The leave-behind recipe, sent after a call, is to duplicate the master demo, cut it to the workflows the buyer cared about, stay under 15 steps and send a trackable link with engaged-viewer notifications on. The cold-email recipe is the linked GIF above. Both follow the formats in interactive demo examples.

Which Supademo plan a demo email needs

Supademo exports a demo as a GIF on every plan, and trackable share links that tie each view to a named recipient start on Scale at $38 a month per creator, billed yearly, as read on October 24, 2026. Scale is $50 a month per creator on monthly billing. The best interactive demo software for marketing compares other tools for campaigns.

Take a founder of an 8-person startup who wants a demo link in cold emails. Free gives one creator, the seat that records and edits demos, and five demos. One single-workflow demo fits that limit, and GIF export and share links are on Free. Published demos on Free carry a Made with Supademo watermark that cannot be removed. Supademo's grid states a watermark for MP4 exports on Free without saying whether a GIF carries it.

Free is enough if the founder only needs one link in the email and accepts the watermark. Scale is the plan if the founder needs to know who clicked, with up to five view-only teammates included. Trackable links can be set up in Supademo's 14-day trial of Scale before the campaign goes out, with no card, though the watermark stays during the trial. Supademo pricing lists every plan.
